As a Ballard-based artist, I am constantly inspired by the vibrant and diverse community that surrounds me. In my latest series of watercolor paintings, I am focusing on the dive bars, coffee shops, and fish and chips shops that are such an integral part of the neighborhood.
Using a limited palette of carefully chosen colors and a meticulous attention to detail, I aim to create realistic and authentic depictions of these beloved local establishments. I pay close attention to the play of light and shadow, and strive to accurately render the textures and surfaces of the objects and spaces depicted in my work.
Through these small, realistic paintings, I hope to convey the unique charm and character of the dive bars, coffee shops, and fish and chips shops that make Ballard such a special place. These everyday spaces and experiences are an integral part of our community, and I am grateful for the opportunity to share them with others through my art.
